About Us
In the past, those who played sport at the highest level at Olympic Games, World Cup or Champions Trophies, or those who attended a club who did tour, were usually the only ones lucky enough to have the opportunity to experience on overseas sporting tour to such places as Australia, South Africa, the US or Canada.
Wanderers Belgie's teams - "The Wanderers", are designed to give players of all levels the opportunity to be a part of an International tour.
"The Wanderers" consists of local club players from across Belgium, and ALL abilities are welcome. It does not matter if you are the star of the national team, or on the bench at your local club......all have a place on a Wanderers Belgie hockey tour !
Alexander Hendrickx and Matthias Dubois who won the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games bronze medals and were players of the Wanderers Belgium team 2009 who toured Australia.
Our players range in ability from beginners to representative players from clubs across Belgium. Teams are them combined with exceptional coaches and managers who will accompany and supervise the teams on tour. Past coaches have included tophockey youth and regional coaches, as well as former international coaches, including former mens coach of Belgium and now Australian coach Adam Commens.
Usually we take two teams of boys and girls on tour, and have a 1st team and 2nd team, which allows players to play with and against players of their own level. The standard of play is excellent, with our teams playing at the prestigious international tournament called Hockeyfest in Sydney Australia, which sees teams from across Australia , Europe, Asia (including the Japan U18 national team) and North America... compete at the site of the 2000 Olympic Games over a week of competition. After the tournament we travel to Los Angeles, where players have the opportunity to visit Santa Minca and Venice Beach, Hollywood, Universal Studios and perhaps Disneyland.
This is the big difference with a Wanderers Tour is...
Not only will you get to see all the sights of the destinations you travel to with us, but you will get to meet and chat and get to know the locals - because you will play hockey against them ! You will also meet great new friends in your team that all have a common interest - Hockey
Players aged between 14 and 17 are welcome to join us on tour to Hockeyfest.
