Hockeyfest 2012
Wanderers Belgie in July 2012 will be touring to Australia, taking approx 1 girls team and 1 boys team to Sydney for Hockeyfest 2012, and then onto the famous Los Angeles in America to see Santa Monca and Venice Beach, Hollywood and Universal Studios.
The level is quite high and is equivalent to playing provincial and at times national level in Europe.
HOCKEYFEST is an international youth hockey event for both boys and girls teams from all over Australia & the world. The tournament is now in its 14th year.
The tournament is designed to cater for junior players on an international level, as to give them valuable experience to competing in such an event over a week, with such issues as living in an athletes village with teams from across the world.
Club, regional and provincial teams teams from all over Australia as well as a host of countries including the United States, England, Spain, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Africa, France, Holland, Canada, and Argentina, have been invited to participate in this exciting youth hockey event.
HOCKEYFEST gives teams the opportunity to play in Sydney; host city of The 2000 Olympics. The tournament is played at the Olympic Hockey Centre.
HOCKEYFEST 2012 comprises of teams who will compete over 5 days for the title of HOCKEYFEST International Cup and Trophy Champions. Male and Female teams shall comprise of players aged between 14 and 18 years of age (ie players cannot be 19). Team numbers are usually 16 players including 2 Goalkeepers.
Pool games will be played between Monday and Thursday morning in a round robin format, with repechage games, semi finals and finals played on Thursday afternoon and Friday at the Olympic Hockey Complex. There will be an ample amount of games played to ensure maximum participation for all players. Each team will play a minimum of 9 matches throughout the week.
Hockeyfest recreates the idea of the Athletes village where all the teams live at central venues, and have the opportunity to mix and socialise with each other , have dinner and other activities away from the hockey field. HOCKEYFEST represents a great opportunity for teams of all standards to enjoy the competition of an international sporting event.
During the event, players receive the following:
* 6 nights Accommodation

* A week’s transport pass in Sydney between Olympic Park and the city centre
* Umpires fees
* Disco/presentation dinner on the Friday evening

The cost of the tour includes:
* Return economy airfares ex Brussels Via the United States to Australia.
